Synology DiskStation DS225+ 2-Bay NAS Storage Server

The Synology DiskStation DS225+ 2-Bay NAS is designed for home offices, small businesses and professional environments that need centralised storage and dependable data management. It allows users to consolidate documents, photos, videos and other files in one network-accessible location, helping simplify collaboration and backup workflows.

The NAS is powered by an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor and includes 2GB of DDR4 non-ECC memory, expandable up to 6GB with a compatible memory module. This hardware supports everyday NAS workloads, including file sharing, synchronisation, backup management and supported surveillance applications.

With two drive bays supporting compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA drives, the DS225+ provides flexible storage configuration. The diskless model does not include hard drives or SSDs, so storage devices must be purchased separately. RAID options such as RAID 1 and Synology Hybrid RAID can help provide redundancy, depending on the selected configuration. RAID is not a substitute for an independent backup.

For network connectivity, the device includes one 2.5GbE LAN port and one 1GbE LAN port, supporting integration into compatible wired networks. Synology quotes sequential read and write performance of up to 282 MB/s and 217 MB/s, respectively, under specified testing conditions; actual results depend on the drives, network and workload.

Running Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), the DS225+ offers tools for organising files, sharing folders, backing up compatible computers and devices, and synchronising data. Compatible surveillance applications also allow the NAS to be incorporated into supported IP-camera systems, subject to software requirements and licensing.

With two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a compact desktop enclosure and a 3-year manufacturer-listed hardware warranty, the Synology DS225+ is a flexible storage platform for users who need centralised data management and network-accessible storage.
